Calculate salary hike percentage and absolute increment between current and new compensation.
Salary hike percentage (or salary increment) is the increase as a share of your current salary: Formulas: • Hike % = (New Salary − Current Salary) ÷ Current Salary × 100 • New Salary = Current Salary × (1 + Hike % ÷ 100) • Increase = New Salary − Current Salary Use the same pay period for both figures (annual with annual, or monthly with monthly). A negative result means a salary reduction, and the calculator shows it as a reduction.
Enter 600,000 as your current salary and 690,000 as your new salary to calculate your increment:
Enter ₹10,00,000 as current salary and ₹13,50,000 as revised offer:
Master the salary increase percentage formula, calculate pay raises from new vs old salaries, compare gross vs in-hand hikes, and model promotions with real examples.
Subtract the old salary from the new salary, divide by the old salary, and multiply by 100. For example, going from 600,000 to 690,000 is an increase of 90,000, which is 15%.
Multiply your current salary by 1 plus the hike as a decimal. A 15% hike on 600,000 gives 600,000 × 1.15 = 690,000.
It depends on what your employer states. Increments are usually quoted on gross salary or CTC. Your take-home change can differ because of tax, deductions and how the pay is structured, so compare the same salary measure before and after.
Not in real terms. Dividing 1.05 by 1.06 shows your purchasing power falls by about 0.94%. Compare your raise with the inflation rate where you live. This is general information, not financial advice.
They mean the same thing in everyday use: an increase in pay. "Increment" is the more common term in some regions, "raise" in others, and "hike" is widely used in India.
